When I started this blog a long time ago, I never imagined I’d give such basic advice… but, get a website! I’m disappointed and embarrassed for people once in a while when I find they don’t have a website. I go looking for them and they have no official site. How can that be today? I’m doing that very thing that marketers fantasize about- I hear about something or someone, and looking to engage, I do a quick search. Only to find nothing 🙁
It seems lately that up-and-coming musicians seem to be the worst offenders. I have a habit of watching Music Choice when I’m working from home (or cleaning. ugh). I’m really into my music and really into my artists; but I come up short when they don’t have a website, which is turning out to be quite a bit of the time lately. Why wouldn’t you have a website? Especially by the time that you’re well known enough to be played on a cable station? They are cheap enough *gasp* that you should even have a so-so website. I might have read your bio, looked at your photos, downloaded your album, come to see you in concert. But now I’m going to look up another artist who does have a professional, engaging online presence. Do yourself a favor, please! I want to know more! Get a website!
